Soap & Glory Makeup Review
Hi everyone! At the moment I am really loving Soap & Glory. I have always had a thing for their amazing body products, but recently I have also purchased a lot of their makeup and I think this brand should be known for more than their gorgeous body butters!
One Heck Of A Blot Instant-Perfecting Primer
As someone who suffers from oily skin, this primer is perfect for me. It creates a beautiful matte base on which my foundation glides seamlessly. You only need a small amount of product to cover your whole face and it helps to keep my makeup put all day. I really like the baby pink and black colours of the tube, and the primer itself has a subtle, slightly sweet scent.
One Heck Of A Blot Super-Translucent Powder
This translucent powder works perfectly with its primer counterpart. I generally go for translucent powders as I find them them very versatile and convenient - they match any shade or type of foundation. I love wearing this powder on a night out and even after dancing in a sweaty club, when used with a primer and setting spray, this product helps to keep shine at bay and set my face makeup all night long. The handy compact comes with a little mirror and small sponge, but I ignore this and use my Real Techniques Powder Brush and a stippling motion to perfectly pat this product onto my skin.
Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder
This is another staple translucent powder and it does pretty much the same as One Heck Of A Blot. However, the Kick Ass Powder has a different texture and formula, and provides slightly more coverage. This powder is thicker and smoother, and again I use my Real Techniques Powder Brush to apply it to my face. However, due to its denser consistency it may also be beneficial to use a sponge for this particular product. Again I love the packaging of this sleek and portable compact.
Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Plumper In Clear-Voyant
I was very interested to try this product as it claims to plump up the size of your lips. Although I'm lucky to have average sized lips, I would love to have a larger canvas on which to apply my lipstick on. There is a caution on the packaging that warns this product will "plump, buzz, tingle and zing." This should not be taken lightly! This plumper really does tingle and make your lips feel fuzzy, as though they have pins and needles. It's not the most pleasant sensation so I would recommend only using a small amount of product. I tend to apply it before I put on my lipstick, let the plumper sit for a while and then blot it off and add my colour. It's hard to tell whether it makes my lips bigger, but using this product does make them appear fuller, and it creates a smooth base for my lip colour to glide on. I chose to purchase the clear shade so that I could wear it under or on top of other lip products.
Sexy Mother Pucker Lipsticks
As a self-confessed lipstick lover, these are probably my favourite products of this collection. These lipstick come in three colour groups, suitably named The Nudes, The Pinks and The Reds. They also come in three varying and self-explanatory formulas - Matte, Satin and Shine. I love everything about these lipstick. The colours are stunning, the shiny packaging is sleek and luxurious, the names are adorable, the staying power is great, and each smells deliciously of cocoa butter (one of my favourite scents) and feels moisturising on my lips.
The Nudes
Barely Pinking (Shine)
This is the only shine Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick I own so I would describe its coverage as the most sheer. Having said that, the colour is very buildable, and quite close to my actual lip colour, therefore I tend to reach for this when I'm looking for a natural lip look. It's also very easy to maintain and I don't feel the need to constantly reapply this product. I like that I don't need to spend too long applying this lipstick - I can just slide it over my lips and dash out the door!
Naked Talent (Satin)
The satin formula of this lipstick provides great coverage but the pinky-nude colour makes it easy and fuss-free to apply. Compared with Barely Pinking, Naked Talent is less pink-toned and more brown-toned. It looks especially gorgeous with a bronze or nude eyeshadow look, and is perfect for wearing with both "no-makeup" makeup and a full face of dramatic going out makeup.
Super Nude (Matte)
I know it sounds cheesy but this lipstick definitely lives up to its name. Super Nude is indeed a super nude - flattering, versatile and beautiful in a simple way. The undertones of this shade are more brown than pink, making it different from Barely Pinking and Naked Talent. When wearing this lipstick I cannot tell that it has a matte finish because my lips feel soft and nourished while looking effortlessly amazing.
The Pinks
Rosy Chic (Matte)
I don't tend to go for matte lipsticks as these can very drying on my lips. However, the smooth formula of this product means it's both easy to apply and comfortable to wear. It doesn't have that flaky and cracked look that some matte lipsticks can cause. I also don't usually wear pink lipsticks, but I'm in love with this shade as it is extremely flattering and wearable. It's also quite close to my natural lip colour so fading and wobbly application (which I am prone to when I'm getting ready in a hurry) are less of a problem!
Pommie Girl (Matte)
This lipstick has the same nourishing formula but matte finish of Rosy Chic, however Pommie Girl is a much darker pink shade. It's really buildable and once I've applied a few layers, the colour will last all day. I love how this adds a vivid pop of pink to my look, but with a gorgeous matte finish.
The Reds
You Say Tomato (Satin)
If I had to pick my least favourite of these lipsticks it would probably be You Say Tomato, but this is only because I found it the hardest to apply. As the name suggest, it's a cheeky, bright red that can be worn both day and night.
Tom & Cherry (Satin)
I absolutely adore the deep pinky-red colour of this lipstick - it definitely reminds me of a juicy and perfectly ripe cherry. I would say it's quite similar to Pommie Girl, but with a smooth, satiny finish. Tom & Cherry glides seamlessly onto the lips and can be built up to create a really intense and powerful look.
Berry Kissable (Matte)
This is a basic but beautiful berry shade that will go with any makeup look. It particularly reminds of autumn, but this versatile shade can be worn all year round. Again, the matte formula isn't drying on my lips, and when applied with liner this colour lasts all day.
